An introduction to Yoga Nidra
Yoga Nidra is a guided relaxation practice, sometimes called “yogic sleep”. In my classes we begin with gentle movement, then lie down with blankets and bolsters while I guide the practice.
What happens in a session
I’ll talk you through noticing different parts of your body, your breathing and some simple visualisations. You can settle into a comfortable position and listen. If your mind wanders, you can return to my voice whenever you notice.
How it can feel
You might stay awake, feel drowsy or fall asleep for part of the practice. Each session can feel different. Yoga Nidra gives you time to rest, but it doesn’t replace a night’s sleep.
Who it suits
You don’t need yoga experience or a particular level of flexibility. If you’re unsure whether the session is suitable for you, or you find lying on a mat uncomfortable, get in touch and we can talk it through.
Trying it in Lymington
I teach Yoga Nidra at HBY Studio in Lymington. You can find current dates, times and prices on the schedule and prices page. Bring a warm layer; mats, bolsters and blankets are provided.
