About Yoga Nidra

What is Yoga Nidra?

Yoga Nidra is a guided relaxation practice, sometimes called yogic sleep. I’ll talk you through noticing different parts of your body, your breathing and some simple visualisations. You can get comfortable and listen, without having to follow a sequence of postures.

What to expect

How the session works

0–10
We begin with gentle movements to ease into the session. I’ll help you find a comfortable place on the mat.
10–15
Get comfortable with a blanket and a bolster under your knees. You can use an eye pillow if you like. I’ll give you time to settle before we begin.
15–45
I’ll guide your attention through your body, breathing and simple visualisations. It’s fine if your mind wanders or you drift off.
45–50
We finish gradually, with time to stretch and sit up before you leave.

Try a breathing practice

Take a moment to slow your breathing

Try following the circle for a few breaths, breathing in for four counts and out for eight. Keep it comfortable and return to your usual breathing whenever you need to.

Common questions

Questions about Yoga Nidra

What is Yoga Nidra?

It’s a guided relaxation practice. You lie down comfortably while I talk you through noticing your body, your breathing and simple visualisations.

Do I need any yoga experience?

No, beginners are welcome. We start with gentle movement and spend most of the session resting. If lying on a mat is uncomfortable for you, get in touch before booking so we can discuss what support you need.

When and where does it happen?

One Wednesday evening a month at 19:00 at HBY Studio, 44 High Street, Lymington SO41 9YS. The next date is always on Acuity Scheduling and at the top of this page.

What if I fall asleep?

That’s fine. You may drift in and out of sleep, or stay awake throughout. I’ll guide everyone back gently at the end.

Can I come if I am pregnant?

Yes. Tell me on arrival and rest on your side with support rather than flat on your back for long spells. Yoga Nidra pairs well with the Wednesday pregnancy class.

How much is it?

£12, booked and paid online through Acuity Scheduling. Mats, bolsters and blankets are provided — bring a warm layer.
